PRAYAGRAJ: Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) leader and Samajwadi Party MLA from Sirathu assembly constituency Palllavi Patel met agitating Allahabad University students on Friday and extended support to their stir against the recent fee hike and restoration of the students’ union.
The student leaders have been protesting on the campus for the past over 80 days against the “steep hike” in the fee structure of different courses being implemented from the academic session 2022-23 and for the past over two years for restoration of the students’ union.
Earlier, various political leaders, including Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav too extended their support to the protesting students.
On Friday, Pallavi Patel first garlanded the statue of revolutionary martyr Lal Padmadhar in the union hall. After that, she said in her address that in this movement of the students, she was with them every step of the way .
“I will fight for these legitimate demands of the students from the road to the House. Now the time has come to take this movement outside the university campus,” she said. “ I will also take this demand of the students to the chief minister,” she added.
She also requested the students to fight this battle with more vigour because now this fight was of “poor versus rich” and “Kamera (workers) vs Lootera (robber)”.
