Two passengers were arrested as soon as they landed in Mumbai on Wednesday for allegedly getting drunk and causing a commotion on board a flight from Dubai, police said on Thursday

According to the police complaint in the case, John George D’Souza, 49, and Dattatray Anand Bapardekar, 47, drank the liquor bought before boarding the flight. The two allegedly ignored warnings that they cannot consume alcohol but for served by the airline on board.
They continued drinking and moving on the plane despite repeated warnings. “Other passengers also started complaining about their behaviour,” a crew member said in the complaint. She added the two talked and laughed loudly, causing unease to fellow passengers.
When the crew asked the men to quiet down, they became more unruly. “They even abused the crew members [and] behaved badly with other passengers. We had to confiscate the rest of the alcohol in their possession,” said the complainant.
A police officer said the two men were booked under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code for rash behaviour endangering the lives and safety of fellow passengers, and the International Airports Authority Act.
