26-year-old son sets mother on fire mother for not serving food on time

A man in Alibag, India killed his mother after she served him dinner late. He assaulted her with a stick, a sickle, and set her on fire. He has been arrested and charged with murder.

Navi Mumbai: On the occasion of Dussehra while people were busy burning the effigies of Ravana and wishing each other about goodness prevailing over evil, a 26-year-old man in Alibag Taluka killed his mother for not serving him food on time.

People of Revdanda are yet to get over the gruesome act of a 36-year-old man killing his two sisters by poisoning them over a property issue, another incident has surfaced in the same area.

On Tuesday night, Jayesh Namdev Khot, an ITI graduate but unemployed from Navkhar was waiting to have his dinner. But when his mother, Changuna, served the late, he got furious, and a fight erupted between them. “During the fight, the son first assaulted the mother with a stick and then dragged her outside the house and assaulted her with a sickle and then put her on ablaze by using dried leaves and grass,” a police officer from Raigad said.

When nearby people started gathering, Khot ran away to the nearby woods with the sickle. The mother was rushed to Alibag Civil Hospital where she succumbed on Wednesday night with serious burn injuries.

After Revdanda police were alerted about the incident, they too went inside the woods and located him. Armed with a sickle, he kept threatening to kill the police and after around 2 hours, the police managed to nab the accused.

A case was registered against Khot under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 302 (murder) of the IPC.
