MUMBAI: The minor biker who fell from a height of around 40 feet from the U-bridge in Bandra on March 8, which killed the pillion rider, has been booked for causing death by negligence.

The Bandra police on Tuesday night registered an FIR against the 17-year-old biker who sustained severe injuries in the incident. The pillion rider, a Govandi resident, identified as Abdul Ahad Sheikh (18), had died on the spot.
The incident took place in the early morning of March 8 when a group of bikers was going from Govandi towards Mahim Dargah. A patrolling police team took the two boys to the hospital, Sheikh was declared dead on arrival by the doctors while the minor was rushed to the emergency room.
An official from Bandra police station said that the accused had been booked under sections 279 (rash or negligent driving that can endanger human life or cause hurt) and 304A (causing death by negligence, not amounting to culpable homicide) among others that were applicable in the case.
The minor who survived the accident is still undergoing treatment in a private hospital where his family admitted him the day after the accident.
