Mumbai: Police seek license suspension in 2 accident cases

The Mumbai traffic police have asked the regional transport office to suspend licenses of the drivers who were at the wheels of speeding vehicles that killed a three-year-old girl and a tech firm CEO in Mumbai this month.

Joint police commissioner (traffic) Pravin Padwal said it is a standard procedure to refer licenses for suspension when vehicles are involved in speeding twice, etc. The minimum period for license suspension is three months.
In the first case involving drunk driving, the vehicle registered in the name of one Vishwas Attavar’s wife, Sheetal, was involved in speeding and dangerous driving from March 2018 to March 2023. The vehicle involved in the second case was registered in the name of Bijal Dharmesh Merchant and had received three rash driving tickets.
