Auto Expo 2023: Concepts, cars, and craze for SRK to return to Greater Noida
India’s biggest motor show, the Auto Expo 2023, is set to take place after three years. Those who are enthusiastic about automobiles have a lot to look forward to. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan must watch out for his appearance that will add swag, glitz, and glamour.
Along with the craze and craving for automobiles, style and glamour are set to return to the NCR. After almost three years due to the pandemic, the Auto Expo is now making a comeback and is all set to take centre stage. But besides being known for bringing all the jazz of the newest and latest automobile models, this event is also driven by star power. So, all the SRK fans in town should expect to see him live! One of the many reasons to be excited about this event is that, as per our sources, actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is the brand ambassador of an automobile giant, will serve his swag at the expo. SPOT, a four-legged robot, will also be here to share the love.

Reportedly, many big auto brands are not taking part this year, at this mega event that is known to give platform to various automakers to showcase their new launches, concept cars, and other upcoming projects in the automobile industry. Still, the event will witness a participation from quite a few companies include MG Motors, Tata Motors, Kia, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Toyota, among others. Rajesh Menon, director general, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, says, “Auto Expo 2023 is providing a platform to companies to showcase advancements in new generation electrified technologies and would provide consumers with an experience of how the auto industry has geared up for the transformation of mobility that would be carbon benign, safe and connected. There are a large number of pure EV players showcasing electric vehicles in PVs, two- and three-wheelers, and also commercial vehicles. In addition, we will have a separate Ethanol Pavilion where some of the two-wheeler OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) will display their working prototypes of Flex Fuel vehicles.”

Among the vehicles that will be displayed, one could expect to look out for Maruti‘s Jimny, MG Motors’ Hector and Hector Plus facelifts, Toyota’s Innova Hybrid, and Lexus RX. But a major key attraction at the event this year would be the presence of electric vehicles (EVs) since there are as many as 30 pure EV OEM participants. In the two-wheeler and three-wheeler segment, there are brands such as Okinawa Autotech, Hero Eco Tech, and Tork Motors are among the longlist. Whereas in the passenger vehicle segment, brands such as BYD India, Vayve Mobility and Pravaig Dynamics will be present, too and in the commercial vehicle space, Omega Seiki, Hexall Motors and Jupiter Electric Mobility are also participating.
The India launch of MG Motor’s hatchback MG4 EV will sure take the spotlight. In addition, Chinese EV automaker BYD will showcase Atto 3, and e6, and one could also get to see Kia’s EV9 Concept car, Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan, and Maruti Suzuki’s unveiling of an electric SUV concept! The other major attractions include concept cars as concept automobiles are prototypes that show innovative processes — a new style or technology gathered by different manufacturers.
An ethanol pavilion, a road safety campaign, a historic car display, and a vintage automobile display will also be part of the expo. But those who want to know the artistic side of these machines, must visit is the pavilion where machines will transform into artistic artefacts made from old vehicles and vehicle parts. “This year we will focus on artworks themed on the importance of sustainability and the need for sustainable solutions to save our planet and our heritage. These will include Ambassador, E-Waste car, Car wireframes, and EV scooter as artworks,” informs Himanshu Jangid, founder, Cartist, adding, “The Cadillac 1954 Fleetwood and Ambassador Mark II 1969, which were restored by us, will also be on display. We have penned down the process of restoration in a book, which will be launched in April this year, and the book cover will be launched at the Expo.”
However, among the numerous automakers who have chosen to not participate this year include Mercedes Benz, Audi, Jeep, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault, Honda Cars India, Skoda, Volkswagen, and Nissan, and top two-wheeler brands such as Hero MotoCorp, TVS, Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Harley-Davidson.
