Ghaziabad Four unidentified men posing as police officers stole $1,100 from an Uzbek national who had come to a private hospital in Vaishali to visit his uncle’s ailing daughter on Wednesday evening.
The complainant, Devron Covich, who is from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, said the incident took place at 6.30pm. “I ventured out of the hospital to buy some food items, when four men arrived in a blue car and said they were policemen. They started searching me and took my bag to check it. Afterwards, they left. But when I opened my bag, my $1,100 were missing. They had put the money in their car before they handed me the bag,” Covich said in his complaint to Kaushambi police.
The Kaushambi police have registered a First Information Report under cheating of the Indian Penal Code.
