LUCKNOW To commemorate the death anniversary of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru -- who were executed by the British government in Lahore in 1931 -- music and film screenings were held at Sheroes Hangout café in Lucknow on Thursday. The event was organised by the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) and Dastak, a cultural organisation.

The programme -- titled ‘Bhagat Singh se Dosti’ -- celebrated the martyrdom of the three heroes of our freedom struggle. The program was conducted by poet and activist Deepak Kabir. On the occasion, Kabir spoke about the need to revisit the scientific and revolutionary ideas of Bhagat Singh.
The event started with renditions of patriotic songs, and the screening of ‘Inquilab’, a short film on the life of Bhagat Singh. The film was directed by Gauhar Raza.
The programme concluded with the lighting of candles and a promise by the attendees to keep alive the ideals of the revolutionaries. Members of IPTA also urged attendees to join the association in order to keep Indian cultures alive through arts.
