Himachal: BJP will win all LS seats, says Jai Ram Thakur

Former Himachal chief minister and leader of opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday said that if byelections in nine assembly constituencies are held alongside the Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh, it will pave the way for BJP to form the government in the state.

Sukhu government had notified a month ago the ambitious scheme Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Samman Nidhi Yojana under which Congress announced a monthly honorarium of ₹1,500 for women in the age bracket of 18 to 59 years. “Congress misleads voters in the assembly elections. Now again it’s trying to hoodwink them,” he said, adding the “government led by Sukhu is currently running on a ventilator”.

Even as the Ajit Pawar faction managed to bag six seats despite having only one sitting MP, the BJP is insisting on some seats held by the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. The latter will probably end up ceding a couple of constituencies such as Nashik, Palghar, Hingoli and one or the other from Thane and Kalyan, and will thus be restricted to 13 seats, equal to the number of MPs it currently has.
