Party leaders familiar with his programme said he will hold a meeting with officials in Patna and on Sunday, attend the birth anniversary celebrations of Emperor Ashoka at Sasaram and address a meeting there. He will also address a rally in Nawada the same day, they said.

Last year, Amit Shah visited the Seemanchal region, which has a significant Muslim population. Later, in October, he visited Sitab Diara, the birthplace of socialist veteran late Jai Prakash Narayan. In February this year, he visited Valmakinagar and Patna the same day (Feb 25) and addressed Kisan Samagam organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of peasant leader Sahajanand Saraswati in Patna, in a bid to woo the Bhumihar community that he came from.

Nawada and Sasaram have a considerable population of Kushwahas, a community seen as traditional supporters of chief minister Nitish Kumar.

The ruling Janata Dal-United prepared for the top BJP leader’s visit with a bunch of questions. “JD-U has been continuously demanding to implement one nation one tariff. Why is the central government backing away from implementing the same?” asked JD-U national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan, referring to different rates at which states purchase electricity from national public sector power companies.

“When will the air connectivity promise made by the home minister to start Purnia airport prove to be true? When will the income of farmers double? In the agriculture sector, on August 18, 2015, the Prime Minister announced to give 3,094 crore to Bihar, while the reality is that only 73.11 crore has been received so far. Why not the case of CBI, ED on the people of BJP?” he asked.
