PMC proposes exclusive garden for pet dogs

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is well-known for its theme parks, and it is adding a new one that will be exclusively for pet dogs in the city.
Vikram Kumar, the municipal commissioner of Pune, stated, “We propose a special garden for pet dogs in the city, where only pets would be permitted. Taking into consideration the demand of a large community of dog lovers in the city, the PMC plans to erect the garden soon.”
PMC has over 200 parks, including various theme parks and gardens such as Nala Park, Rose Garden, Palm Garden, and Nana Nani Park. At many existing gardens, pets are not permitted and considering that, the civic body has initiated building gardens open to pet dogs.
“PMC is also conducting a survey of stray dogs in the city and has appointed the agency to do so,” said the commissioner.
The PMC administration stated on the condition of anonymity that they had not yet decided on a location for the garden. Some rules are being considered, such as the requirement for pet owners to clean up after their pets in the garden, as is the case in Western countries.
On the same note, the PMC acting chief informed that the civic body is working on a stray dog birth control programme and sterilisation of stray dogs with the assistance of agencies.
