Foul-mouthed Munaf may face action

An innocuous top edge that sailed to the boundary at best would have attracted a smirk or a word or two from the bowler. But having been hit for a six two balls earlier, Munaf Patel could not hold himself back.

An innocuous top edge that sailed to the boundary at best would have attracted a smirk or a word or two from the bowler. But having been hit for a six two balls earlier, Munaf Patel could not hold himself back. And he unleashed a verbal tirade at tail-ender Amit Mishra that could attract disciplinary action from the match referee.

Soon after Mishra top-edged the slow bouncer, Munaf walked up to him and said something that provoked the DC batsman into an animated response. His partner Shikhar Dhawan also got involved in the verbal slugfest.

Umpire S Ravi intervened immediately to control the situation but the next three balls of the over ended up on the boundary and were followed by a verbal exchange between the two.

The first was clipped to square leg and after the next, the bowler and the batsman collided as Mishra went for a run. It only added to the tension.

Mishra had the last word when he dispatched the final delivery for four.

The MI paceman also lost his rhythm as he ended up bowling two low full tosses and a wide, slower one in the last three balls, conceding 23 runs in the final over and allowing Deccan Chargers to bounce back.
