With two new teams Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans added to the roster, the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see 10 teams compete for the title as the T20 tournament returns to the country. see more Rajasthan Royals were the winners of the competition in its inaugural edition in 2008 and the lucrative event has evolved into one of the biggest cricketing events. With a combined total of nine IPL titles, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings remain two of the most successful franchises in the league. Mumbai have got five titles to their name and Chennai have won the IPL crown on four occasions. Kolkata Knight Riders fall third in the list of the most IPL titles, having won the trophy in 2012 and 2014. Sunrisers Hyderabad and now-defunct Deccan Chargers have emerged victorious in one edition each while Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are yet to win an IPL title.
