The Orange Cap is taken home by the batter who scores the most runs in the season. Brendon McCullum became the first player to win the Orange Cap whereas Shaun Marsh emerged as the first winner. David Warner of Australia has see more won the Orange Cap more than anyone else, bagging it three times in 2015, 2017 and 2019, followed by Chris Gayle, who has won it twice. Virat Kohli holds the record for most runs in a single edition of the IPL as his tally of 973 runs for RCB in 2016 is yet to be bettered.
