IPL 2024 Hundreds: The hundreds in IPL are tough to score but there are those odd days in the tournament when a batter lights up the stage with a blazing century. In the very first match of the Indian Premier League in 2008, Brendon McCullum of Kolkata Knight Riders slammed hundred against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was insane hitting from a champion batter from New Zealand.
In the 2016 edition of the IPL, Virat Kohli was in the best form of his life as he scored four centuries in that season. In the most hundreds club of IPL, Kohli leads the pack with eight centuries, followed by Jos Buttler and Chris Gayle with six centuries each. Down the order are KL Rahul, Shane Watson and David Warner with four centuries each. Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson and AB de Villiers with two hundreds to their names.
Then there are the uncapped Indian players such as Manish Pandey, Paul Valthaty, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar and Yashasvi Jaiswal who have scored splendid tons in the previous editions of the IPL. Kohli has been the most prolific run-scorer in IPL history and in this edition too he is leading the run charts with most runs.
The Indian batter also slammed the first hundred of IPL 2024, an unbeaten 113 off 72 balls in RCB's match against Rajasthan Royals. Kohli got to his century off 67 balls, joint-slowest ever in the history of IPL. This was also the second time that Kohli batted through the innings for RCB, and also recorded 7500 runs in the IPL.
In the second innings of the same match, Buttler slammed his sixth IPL hundred in his 100th appearance. He reached his hundred with a six and helped Royals ace the 184-run chase. The English opener registered his sixth ton for the Royals. Buttler also became the second batter after KL Rahul to score a hundred in their 100th IPL appearance.
