DEHRADUN: The University of Patanjali has inked an agreement with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh to jointly carry out research in the field of Ayurveda.

Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ltd and vice chancellor of Patanjali University, said the agreement with the AIIMS, Rishikesh will focus on enhancing research on Ayurveda. “The idea is to establish yoga and ayurveda on the international arena,” Balkrishna said.

The AIIMS has an Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, (Ayush) wing which will work with Patanjali. In the last few months, Patanjali is working with the government institutions.
In April, Patanjali signed a letter of agreement with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to market an array of herbal products developed by the DRDO’s Life Sciences wing - Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR).
Meanwhile, Patanjali expressed interest in doubling the under construction international herbs research institute in Haryana as a facilitation centre. In a meeting on Tuesday noon, Balkrishna said the Morni institute should have 50 nurseries for herbs. Balkrishna said the researchers of Patanjali has so far planted saplings of more than 800 herbs in the upcoming institute.
