DU admits students to nine of its undergraduate programmes based on entrance exams. However, applicants were seen at the undergraduate admissions help desk and at the grievance cell on Saturday, complaining that they have been facing difficulties with the procedures.

Entrance tests for Delhi University’s nine undergraduate programmes are scheduled to begin on Sunday, however, some applicants are still facing difficulties with the procedure.

DU admits students to nine of its undergraduate programmes based on entrance exams. However, applicants were seen at the undergraduate admissions help desk and at the grievance cell on Saturday, complaining that they have been facing difficulties with the procedures.

“One major thing is that ‘complete’ information is not available anywhere. I had applied to BA (hons) in Music programme, but on the entrance based undergraduate admissions portal of the DU, there is no date listed for the Music programmes entrance tests,” said Ankit Arora.

Students need to visit the Music department’s website to view the schedule of entrance exams. DU holds a practical admission test at the Department of Music for BA (Hons) Music applicants, and these are to be held on July 4 and 5.

Arora also added that he has not been able to view or download his admit card. DU’s grievance cell had taken note of the issues. “All issues related to admit cards have been resolved,” said Ashutosh Bhardwaj, OSD admissions at DU.

Another student Tanya Malik, a B.El.Ed applicant who had paid her application fees for the entrance-based courses, said she was unsure if she would be able to take the test. “I have been trying to contact the university for more than three days now. I have emailed them, and even tried calling. They usually tell you to wait for a reply to the email when you call them, but my entrance test is on Sunday and I can’t view or download my admit card,” she said on Saturday evening.

Applicants like Ankush Rawat, who want to study BSc Physical Education, Health Education and Sports, have had the application fees deducted from their bank accounts, but the portal fails to reflect this.

“I had paid my fees on June 18, and got a confirmation from my bank that the amount has been deducted from the account, and even got it confirmed by the university officials today (Saturday) that they had received the amount. However, my portal still says that the fees status is ‘unpaid’ and because of this they are not generating an admit card for me,” said Rawat, who has his entrance test on Sunday.
