A day after the Delhi Police arrested two Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) militants, the interrogation has revealed that they have recruited some new cadres to execute plot to assassinate three religious leaders in Punjab and Haryana, police said.
Sarabpreet Singh and Jaswinder Singh were arrested following inputs that BKI was trying to set-up its base in Delhi for executing their plan during the upcoming Punjab elections.
A thorough examination of the laptop recovered from the arrested militants has provided the police some clues about the identity of those who have been recruited.
"We have got some important clues from the laptop and are examining it further to get more evidences. During interrogation Sarabpreet disclosed that he carried out the recruiting assignment on the instructions of BKI chief Wadhwa Singh," said a senior police officer, adding that they have sent a team to Punjab to trace the newly recruited BKI militants.
The officer, however, refused to share details about the number of recruited persons. "This would hamper our investigation and we don't want to lose this terror trail, the officer added.
Sarabpreet, who was arrested from his rented accommodation in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh was also given the task by his handlers to create a base for the BKI in Delhi.
