Raj Bala was arrested by the southwest district police for allegedly thrashing the zonal engineer, junior engineer and a plumber of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). She had also been held in the past for allegedly attacking the wife of a CRPF personnel, living in her neighbourhood, with a knife.

The victims have been identified as Rajesh Rohilla, the zonal engineer, Kamlesh, the junior engineer and Ajit, a DJB plumber.

On Saturday afternoon, when the victims tried to handover a challan issued by DJB against Raj Bala for an illegal water connection at her home in Sainik Enclave, she thrashed them, tore some receipts from their challan book and seized it illegally.

“We arrested Raj Bala under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 186 and 379 (theft) of IPC,” said AK Ojha, deputy commissioner of police (southwest), while confirming the incident.

According to Ojha, the matter came to fore after a team from Baba Haridas Nagar police station reached the spot to attend a PCR call. On reaching there, Ojha said, the SHO learnt that three DJB personnel were assaulted physically by the woman, her two children and her aide.

“Raj Bala was out for some work when the three DJB personnel arrived at her house to issue a challan. Her daughter informed Raj Bala and within minutes she arrived on her motorcycle and hit Ajit with her two-wheeler,” a police officer said.

“The other two senior DJB officers raised an objection over her act after which she, along with her children and aide began thrashing them,” said the officer.
