Hostile Kanda makes light of interrogation

Having interrogated former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda without much success, the Delhi Police now plans to confront him with his co-accused Aruna Chaddha. Chaddha, the HR manager of the defunct MDLR Airlines, is currently in judicial custody in connection with the Geetika Sharma suicide case, in which Kanda is the prime accused. Chaddha, the HR manager of the defunct MDLR Airlines, is currently in judicial custody in connection with the Geetika Sharma suicide case, in which Kanda is the prime accused.

A senior investigating officer said they are planning to seek production warrant for Chaddha so that they could confront Kanda with her. Police sources said interrogators had a tough time grilling Kanda, who came "prepared for police's questions". It is believed that Kanda did his home work with lawyers before facing the police.

"We need to know whether he followed Geetika to Dubai where she went to work with Emirates. And if he did, for how many days did he stay in Dubai and where. Also, we want to know whether he had met Geetika during his stay in Dubai last year," said the investigating officer. According to police, an anonymous person, purportedly on behalf of Kanda, had sent an e-mail to Emirates where Geetika was employed, saying that she has forged documents to get a job with the company. Geetika's family members had alleged that she lost her job with Emirates because of the e-mail.

Her family has also provided the landline number of Geetika’s flat in Dubai. It is claimed that Kanda used to call her up on that number and threaten her. The Delhi Police will now get the call details on that number with the help of its Dubai counterparts. Her family members also claimed that they had been receiving threatening calls.

Chaddha’s claim that Geetika underwent multiple abortions is also yet to be established. It was clear from Geetika's autopsy report that she was habituated to unnatural sex. But, whether it was forced upon her or not, is yet to be ascertained.

Investigators want to know about the person(s) who were sexually exploiting Geetika. As per the autopsy report, sealed samples of vaginal and anal swabs along with slides have been preserved for semen and DNA profiling.
