The four-day Delhi assembly session starting August 22 is likely to be stormy.
While the government will decide the complete agenda in a meeting of the cabinet later in the day, party sources said AAP legislators are likely to bring in several resolutions in the House against Delhi Police and the BJP government at the Centre.
“A host of issues are likely to be raised in the House. While the fallout of the Delhi High Court order (making lieutenant governor the administrative head of Delhi) will be at the top of the agenda, the party legislators will also prominently raise the issue of arbitrary action of Delhi Police against AAP MLAs,” a senior AAP leader said.
Twelve AAP MLAs have been arrested over the past one and a half years in connection with different cases. Party leaders have maintained that though the Delhi Police acts with ‘unusual alacrity and enthusiasm’ against AAP leaders, it fails to take.action in cases that involve BJP leaders.
The party legislators, sources said, will also raise atrocities against Dalits across the country, often by right-wing cow vigilante groups.
“A Dalit councillor of AAP was beaten on camera by BJP councillors in a house meeting of MCD, but no action has been taken on the incident by Delhi Police or party to.date. It shows the anti-Dalit face of the BJP,” said a senior AAP leader.
AAP legislators are also likely to bring in resolutions about functioning of the BJP-ruled MCDs. As the civic polls in the national capital draws closer, the BJP and AAP have been locking horns over MCD operations.
Besides resolutions, sources said, the assembly secretariat has already received about 125 questions from legislators over a host of issues.
