For Suraj Paswan, the 23-year-old security guard at a mall whose mutilated body was discovered in Dwarka sector 20 on Friday, it was his obsession for a girl in his neighbourhood which resulted in his brutal murder.
Two days after the murder, the southwest district police have arrested two brothers of the girl for allegedly abducting Paswan and murdering him, police sources said. The arrested have been identified as Vinod (35) and his brother Vivek (32). They are resident of Raghubir Nagar in Khayala where Paswan also lived.
During the course of investigation, a police officer on the condition of anonymity said, it was learnt that a few days back Paswan had a serious tiff with a family in his neighbourhood.
"On further enquiry it was learnt that the argument had broke out over the issue of Paswan troubling a girl in the rival family. A few days back Paswan had barged into their house when only the girl was present. This had irked the girl's brother and they had threatened to kill Paswan," said the officer.
"We zeroed in on the two brothers of the girl and questioned them. Initially, they pretended innocence in the entire matter, but on sustained interrogation broke down and confessed their crime," the officer added.
On Thursday night, the officer said, Paswan was on his way back home from work when the accused abducted him in their car and strangled him to death. Later, they took his body to an isolated place in Dwarka Sector 20 and inflicted several stab wounds on his body. They also severed his private part before dumping the body, the officer said.
