“This year question paper was much easier than the previous year. Completing the passage with correct form of verb was a little difficult rest all topics were easy," says Siddharth Kumar Singh, a student of St Joseph College, Lucknow.

“It was a great test of students' potential. It was easy for not only the toppers but for all students," says a student from Lucknow.

“The question paper was much easier than what I had expected. A normal question paper with practiced questions made the fear of board exams higher,” said Samriddhi Mishra, a student of St Joseph College, Lucknow.

“The question paper was easy. There was no issue with the question paper," says Gauri Goel, class 10 student of La Martiniere Girls College.

Adhitri Tulsyan, a student of La Martiniere Girls College said, “The paper was easier than what we expected. The myth passed on by our seniors that boards paper is always better than preboards, is definitely sustained. The tenses were a place where one could lose marks easily because in my case, every form of verb that I tried to fit in, matched the passage perfectly. The essay topics were pretty simple and familiar. Overall, the paper gave me a boost and much-needed confidence to do all other paper well too.”

In Lucknow, the students of City Montessori School Kanpur Road campus felt that the question paper was quite a balanced one.

If it has been proved to the awarding committee that a candidate has made arrangements to obtain unfair help, then the candidate is liable to have his/her results in the examination as a whole cancelled, mentioned the official notification.

After the completion of the exam, students must arrange the answer scripts in a sequential order. Also make sure that the main answer booklet/ continuation booklet has the correct unique ID, index number and subject paper written on it.

Use of any electronic devices, hand, desk or other types of calculating machines are not permitted.

Candidates should note that all entries made on the answer booklet need to be made with a black/blue ballpoint pen or fountain pen.

Candidates must write their UID (Unique Identification Number), index number and subject clearly on the top sheet of the main answer booklet in the space provided.

The ICSE English paper 1 exam started at 11 am. The exam duration is two hours and the paper will end at 1 pm.

In the ICSE exam date sheets, CISCE instructed candidates to enter and sit inside the examination halls five minutes before the exam start time. Candidates who arrive more than 30 minutes late will be allowed to appear only under exceptional circumstances, it said.

For ISC or Class 12th, CISCE will hold the following papers:

• Mass Media and Communication
• Fashion Designing (Theory)

ICSE or Class 10th board exam conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) begins today, February 21. The English Language or English paper 1 examination is scheduled for the first day.
