UPSC Civil Services exam 2025 notification released for 979 vacancies, apply till February 11

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the Civil Services (Preliminary) examination, 2025 at upsc.gov.in.

Candidates can apply for the exam at upsconline.gov.in. Before applying, they must create a One-Time Registration (OTR) profile. The OTR profile is valid for a lifetime and those who already have the profile created can directly fill the application form.
UPSC allows candidates to modify the OTR profile once. The window for OTR modification in the case of fresh candidates will be open till February 18.
The application from correction window for UPSC CSE 2025 will open on February 12 and close on February 18.
The Civil Services (Prelims) examination 2025 will be conducted on May 25, 2025.

The exam will be held in two sessions – Prelims and Mains (written examination and interview). The detailed scheme and syllabus of the examination can be checked on the commission's website.
There will be negative marking for answering objective-type questions incorrectly.
Eligibility criteria, age limit
Candidates need a graduation degree or its equivalent qualification to appear for the exam.
Those who have appeared for the qualifying exam for the graduation degree but are waiting for result will be allowed to apply. They, if qualify for the interview/personality test, must submit proof of passing the examination. Proof of completion of internship is required in case of MBBS/BDS/Veterinary Science etc. and equivalent degree.
Those who have MBBS or other professional qualifications leading to a medical degree but have not completed the internship will be allowed to appear provisionally. They need to submit the degree certificate and proof of internship completion at the time of interview.
On August 1, 2025, the applicant should be at least 21 and not more than 32 years old. The upper age limit will be relaxed for reserve category candidates.
Unreserved category candidates can attempt for the UPSC CSE six times. OBC candidates can attempt the exam nine times and there is no limit in the number of attempts for SC, ST candidates.
The application fee is ₹100. Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability category candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
