Chasing the great Indian Institute of Technology dream often ends in nightmares. But not at the Super 30 in Patna! The institute has become a synonym for success.

The Super 30, initiated by mathematician Anand Kumar and ADG (Headquarters) Abhyanand, has been a success right since its inception. In the first year, 18 of the 30 students made it, followed by 22 the very next year, while 26 made it last year.

This year has been no different, either, with as many as 28 of the 30 students making it to the IIT, including nearly half from the Other Backward Caste (OBC) category and three from the Scheduled Caste.

One of its students, Divyanshu Jha, who secured 91 per cent marks in the CBSE Plus 2 barely a few days ago from St Michael's High School, got the 10th position in the IIT-JEE exams.

At a time when the country seems to be getting enmeshed in yet another quota swirl, the institute has propelled students from the under-privileged sections into the IITs.

What next? 100 per cent, next year! “God willing, may be yes,” says Kumar who also thinks that the hue and cry over reservation is futile.
