UGC NET 2024 Live: Education Ministry cancels UGC NET June exam, orders CBI probe

This time, some changes were introduced in the UGC NET exam. The test was conducted in pen and paper mode in a single day. Previously, it was conducted in computer-based format over multiple days.

UGC NET June 2024 cancelled: The Education Ministry said that a fresh examination will be conducted, for which information will be shared separately.

Here is the full statement from the Ministry of Education regarding cancellation of the UGC NET June examination:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination in OMR (pen and paper) mode on 18th June, 2024 in two shifts across different cities of the country.

On 19th June, 2024, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received certain inputs from National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs on the Examination. These inputs prima-facie indicate that the integrity of the aforesaid examination may have been compromised.

To ensure the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be cancelled. A fresh examination shall be conducted, for which information shall be shared separately. Simultaneously, the matter is being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.) for thorough investigation in the matter.

Next, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will share the provisional answer key of the eligibility examination on ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Along with the provisional key, the agency will also provide the recorded responses of the candidates and the question papers.

" Mathematics came mostly in the Paper 1 than reasoning. I could not manage time to solve some", said Smita Ghosh, an appearing candidate of English subject.

" The mass communication paper was almost fine. Let's see what happens", said Priya Chatterjee.

Amit, from Haryana, living in Chandigarh and doing his master's from Panjab University, stated that "the exam was not so difficult. It was moderate." He wants to pursue a PhD after completing his MA. He also said, "I have plans for my future and I will be living here in Chandigarh for the coming 10-15 years."

Zaid Khan, from Ladakh, said, "I am 28 years old and I am pursuing my PhD from Panjab University." He also mentioned, "This is my 4th attempt. I want to get the scholarship, so I will take the JRF exam after clearing UGC. Also, the exam was moderate."

Deepanshu, from Himachal, said, "I am 25 years old and I am preparing for UPSC, for which I have chosen history as my optional subject. For practice purposes, I took the UGC exam. This is my 3rd attempt and the paper was lengthier compared to the previous year." He also mentioned that the exam was held smoothly, with no late distribution of papers and everything working according to the rules.
