Pradyot Barma had recently held a close door meeting with IPFT delegation regarding pre-poll alliance for the Tripura election. The IPFT is an ally of the ruling BJP in the northeastern state.
Ahead of the 60-member Tripura assembly election on February 16, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced its first list of 48 candidates, while the Congress announced a list of 17 candidates.
The poll panel said that the last date for filing of nomination will be February 7, and candidates can withdraw their nominations till February 10.
The results will be declared on March 2, along with that of Meghalaya and Nagaland assembly polls. The term of Tripura's legislative assembly is due to expire end on March 22 this year.
Nagaland elections 2023: Presently, Nagaland is ruled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) coalition government with Neiphiu Rio becoming the Chief Minister.

Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to the polls on February 27 while Tripura will vote on February 16. The results will be announced on March 2.
Currently, a voter has to physically travel to the district where they are a registered elector in order to cast their vote, but if the new initiative is implemented, migrant voters will not be required to travel to their home district to exercise their franchise.

Bhanuben Babariya defeated the AAP's Vashrambhai Sagathiya by a margin of 48,494 votes to win the Rajkot Rural seat in the recently concluded Gujarat assembly election.
