Goa Election: Canacona Assembly Constituency 2022

Canacona is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the South Goa district. Goa Assembly Election 2022 for Canacona was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Canacona assembly seat had 33,233 registered voters. Of the, 16,422 were male and 16,811 were female voters. 0.9% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In 2017, 5 candidates were contesting for Canacona assembly constituency seat. Canacona was one of 17 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Isidore Aleixinho Fernandes won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Pai Khot by a margin of 2,108 votes.

97.0% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Isidore Aleixinho Fernandes got a total of 10,853 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Pai Khot secured 8,745 votes. Independent candidate Ramesh Tawadkar grabbed the third spot with 7,739 votes. The top three parties got 38.5%, 31.0% and 27.5% respectively.

In Goa Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramesh Bombo Tawadkar M defeated Indian National Congress's Isidore Aleixinho Fernandes by 2,704 votes.
