Mapusa is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the North Goa district. People of Mapusa voted for Goa Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Mapusa assembly seat had 28,808 registered voters. Of the, 14,216 were male and 14,592 were female voters. 1.4% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Election, there were 7 candidates in the fray from Mapusa constituency. Mapusa was one of 13 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Francisco C. J. A. De Pinto E Souza comfortably winning the election upstaging Maharashtrawadi Gomantak's Vinod Fadke by a huge margin of 6,828 votes.
81.0% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Francisco C. J. A. De Pinto E Souza grabbed a total of 10,957 votes, while Maharashtrawadi Gomantak's Vinod Fadke got 4,129 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Vijay Laxman Bhike bagged 3,013 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 49.0%, 18.5% and 13.5% respectively.
In Goa Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Francis D'souza defeated Nationalist Congress Party's Ashish Tulshidas Shirodkar by 10,169 votes.
