Poriem is the assembly constituency which comes under the North Goa district. It is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Goa Assembly Election 2022 for Poriem was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Goa Assembly Election 2017, there were 30,694 registered voters for Poriem assembly seat, out of which 15,417 were male and 15,277 were female voters. 1.8% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 5 candidates were contesting for Poriem assembly constituency seat. Poriem was one of 17 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Pratapsingh R Rane won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Vishwajit Krishnarao Rane by a margin of 4,066 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.7% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Pratapsingh R Rane got a total of 14,977 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Vishwajit Krishnarao Rane secured 10,911 votes. Maharashtrawadi Gomantak's candidate Suhas Gajanan Naik secured 469 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.4%, 40.3% and 1.7% respectively.
In Goa Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Pratapsingh Raoji Rane beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Vishwajit Krishnarao Rane by 2,547 votes.
