Quepem comes under the South Goa district and it is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Quepem voted for Goa Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Goa Assembly Election 2017, there were 31,293 registered voters for Quepem assembly seat, out of which 15,478 were male and 15,815 were female voters. 1.1% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Election, there were 5 candidates in the fray from Quepem constituency. Quepem was one of 17 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Chandrakant (BABU) KAVLEKAR won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Prakash Shankar Velip by a margin of 2,592 votes.
93.0% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Chandrakant (BABU) KAVLEKAR got a total of 13,525 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Prakash Shankar Velip got 10,933 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Joao Fernandes grabbed 1,385 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 51.4%, 41.6% and 5.3% respectively.
In Goa Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Chandrakant Kavalekar defeated independent candidate Prakash Shankar Velip by 6,373 votes.
