In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Himatnagar constituency. Himatnagar was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was an extremely close fight, with Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajendrasinh Ranjitsinh Chavda(RAJUBHAI CHAVDA) narrowly winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Kamleshkumar Jayantibhai Patel by a slim margin of 1,712 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.3% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajendrasinh Ranjitsinh Chavda(RAJUBHAI CHAVDA) got a total of 94,340 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kamleshkumar Jayantibhai Patel secured 92,628 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Solanki Maganbhai Lakhabhai secured 1,065 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.1%, 48.2% and 0.6% respectively.
