It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Thakor Rajendrasinh Shivsinh winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Parmar Bhikhusinhji Chatursinhji by a margin of just 1,640 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.6% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Thakor Rajendrasinh Shivsinh got a total of 83,411 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Parmar Bhikhusinhji Chatursinhji secured 81,771 votes. Nationalist Congress Party's candidate Patel Manojbhai Ratilal secured 2,402 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.8%, 47.8% and 1.4% respectively.
