In 2017, 10 candidates were competing for Naranpura assembly constituency seat. Naranpura was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Kaushikbhai Jamnadas Patel (KAUSHIK PATEL) comfortably winning the election defeating Indian National Congress's Nitinbhai Kantibhai Patel by a huge margin of 66,215 votes.
97.9% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kaushikbhai Jamnadas Patel (KAUSHIK PATEL) got a total of 1,06,458 votes, while Indian National Congress's Nitinbhai Kantibhai Patel got 40,243 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Ravi Khengarbhai Vaghela grabbed 1,284 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 71.0%, 26.9% and 0.9% respectively.
