Indian National Congress's Kagathara Lalitbhai won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Raghavajibhai Jivarajbhai Gadara by a margin of 29,770 votes.
96.4% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Kagathara Lalitbhai got a total of 94,090 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Raghavajibhai Jivarajbhai Gadara got 64,320 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Shekhva Veljibhai Nathubhai grabbed 1,971 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 57.3%, 39.2% and 1.2% respectively.
