Kinnaur is one of the 68 Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kinnaur district. People of Kinnaur voted for Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on November 12 and the result was declared on December 8.

In the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Kinnaur constituency had 5 candidates for assembly seat contention. Kinnaur was one of 21 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was an extremely close fight, with Indian National Congress's Jagat Singh Negi winning the election defeating Bharatiya Janta Party's Tejwant Singh Negi by a narrow margin of 120 votes.

96.1% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Jagat Singh Negi got a total of 20,029 votes, while Bharatiya Janta Party's Tejwant Singh Negi got 19,909 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s candidate Jeevan Singh grabbed 913 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 48.2%, 47.9% and 2.2% respectively.

In Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Jagat Singh Negi outperformed Bharatiya Janta Party's Tejwant Singh Negi by 6,288 votes.
