Himachal Pradesh Election: Shahpur Assembly Constituency 2022
Shahpur is one of the 68 Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kangra district. People of Shahpur voted for Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on November 12 and the result was declared on December 8.
Shahpur assembly constituency had 75,300 electors in 2017, out of which 38,466 were male voters and 36,834 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.3% votes.
In the 2017 Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 6 candidates in the fray from Shahpur constituency. Shahpur was one of 44 seats won by the Bharatiya Janta Party. Bharatiya Janta Party's Sarveen Choudhary won the election upstaging independent candidate Major (RET.) VIJAI SINGH MANKOTIA by a margin of 6,147 votes.
The top three candidates split 95.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Sarveen Choudhary got a total of 23,104 votes, while independent candidate Major (RET.) VIJAI SINGH MANKOTIA secured 16,957 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Kewal Singh Pathania grabbed the third spot with 16,333 votes. The top three parties got 39.1%, 28.7% and 27.6% respectively.
In Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janta Party's Sarveen defeated Indian National Congress's Vijai Singh by 3,123 votes.
