Churachandpur (ST) is the assembly constituency which comes under the Churuchandpur district. It is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Churachandpur (ST) will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
Churachandpur (ST) assembly constituency had 54,113 electors in 2017, out of which 26,060 were male voters and 28,053 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.2% votes.
In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 7 candidates in the fray from Churachandpur (ST) constituency. Churachandpur (ST) was one of 21 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's V. Hangkhanlian winning the election upstaging National People's Party's Phungzathang Tonsing by a margin of just 614 votes.
The top three candidates split 77.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's V. Hangkhanlian got a total of 10,246 votes, while National People's Party's Phungzathang Tonsing secured 9,632 votes. North East India Development Party's candidate Paukhansuan Khuptong grabbed the third spot with 6,411 votes. The top three parties got 30.4%, 28.6% and 19.0% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Phungzathang Tonsing beat All India Trinamool Congress's P.Songlianlal by 7,751 votes.
