Manipur Election: Heingang (GEN) Assembly Constituency 2022
Heingang (GEN) is the assembly constituency which comes under the Imphal district. It is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Heingang (GEN) will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
Heingang (GEN) assembly constituency had 30,459 electors in 2017, out of which 14,769 were male voters and 15,690 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 6 candidates in the fray from Heingang (GEN) constituency. Heingang (GEN) was one of 21 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Nongthombam Biren Singh winning the election upstaging All India Trinamool Congress's Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh by a margin of just 1,206 votes.
The top three candidates split 99.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Nongthombam Biren Singh got a total of 10,439 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh secured 9,233 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Naoroibam Ratan Meetei (KAPU) grabbed the third spot with 7,329 votes. The top three parties got 38.3%, 33.9% and 26.9% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's N. Biren outperformed Nationalist Congress Party's Naoroibam Ratan Kapu Meetei by 2,082 votes.
