Manipur Election: Jiribam Assembly Constituency 2022
Jiribam is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Imphal district. People of Jiribam voted for Manipur Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Jiribam assembly seat had 28,232 registered voters. Of the, 14,503 were male and 13,729 were female voters. 1.4% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 6 candidates in the fray from Jiribam constituency. Jiribam was one of 1 seats won by the independent candidates. Independent candidate Ashab Uddin won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Thoudam Debendra Singh by a margin of 1,650 votes.
The top three candidates split 79.5% of votes between them. Independent candidate Ashab Uddin got a total of 8,189 votes, while Indian National Congress's Thoudam Debendra Singh secured 6,539 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Thounaojam Ranabir Singh grabbed the third spot with 3,199 votes. The top three parties got 36.3%, 29.0% and 14.2% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Thoudam Debendra Singh outperformed All India Trinamool Congress's A. Biren by 1,078 votes.
