Manipur Election: Keirao Assembly Constituency 2022
Keirao is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Imphal district. Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Keirao will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Keirao assembly seat had 27,732 registered voters. Of the, 13,231 were male and 14,501 were female voters. 0.3% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 8 candidates in the fray from Keirao constituency. Keirao was one of 21 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei winning the election upstaging independent candidate Md. Nasiruddin Khan by a margin of just 538 votes.
61.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei grabbed a total of 5,959 votes, while independent candidate Md. Nasiruddin Khan got 5,421 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Karam Thamarjit Singh bagged 4,715 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 22.9%, 20.8% and 18.1% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Manipur State Congress Party's Karam Thamarjit Singh defeated Indian National Congress's Md. Alauddin Khan by 1,450 votes.
