Manipur Election: Konthoujam Assembly Constituency 2022
Konthoujam is the assembly constituency which comes under the Imphal West district. It is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Konthoujam will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Manipur Assembly Election 2017, there were 27,943 registered voters for Konthoujam assembly seat, out of which 13,688 were male and 14,255 were female voters. 0.3% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 3 candidates in the fray from Konthoujam constituency. Konthoujam was one of 21 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Konthoujam Sharat Singh by a margin of 2,772 votes.
The top two candidates split 99.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh got a total of 14,313 votes, while Indian National Congress's Konthoujam Sharat Singh secured 11,541 votes. Independent candidate Nongmaithem Santa Singh secured 83 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.2%, 44.5% and 0.3% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, All India Trinamool Congress's Konthoujam Sharat Singh outperformed Indian National Congress's Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh by 514 votes.
