Manipur Election: Saikul (st) Assembly Constituency 2022
Saikul (st) is the assembly constituency which comes under the Senapati district. It is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Saikul (st) will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
Saikul (st) assembly constituency had 36,301 electors in 2017, out of which 17,947 were male voters and 18,354 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.1% votes.
In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Saikul (st) constituency. Saikul (st) was one of 28 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Yamthong Haokip won the election upstaging Nationalist Congress Party's Chungkhokai Doungel by a margin of 3,261 votes.
63.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Yamthong Haokip grabbed a total of 8,677 votes, while Nationalist Congress Party's Chungkhokai Doungel got 5,416 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Paojalet Touthang bagged 4,439 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 29.6%, 18.5% and 15.2% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Yamthong Haokip defeated All India Trinamool Congress's Chungkhokai Doungel by 1,489 votes.
