Ajnala is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Amritsar district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Ajnala was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Ajnala assembly seat had 1,47,469 registered voters. Of the, 78,070 were male and 69,399 were female voters. 0.4% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In 2017, 15 candidates were contesting for Ajnala assembly constituency seat. Ajnala was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Harpartap Singh won the election by defeating Shiromani Akali Dal's Amarpal Singh Bony Ajnala by a margin of 18,713 votes.
96.6% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Harpartap Singh grabbed a total of 61,378 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Amarpal Singh Bony Ajnala got 42,665 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Rajpreet Singh bagged 12,749 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 50.8%, 35.3% and 10.5% respectively.
