Punjab Election: Amargarh Assembly Constituency 2022

Amargarh comes under the Sangrur district and it is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Amargarh voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Amargarh assembly seat had 1,56,254 registered voters. Of the, 82,957 were male and 73,297 were female voters. 0.5% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Amargarh constituency had 12 candidates for assembly seat contention. Amargarh was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Surjit Singh Dhiman won the election by upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Iqbal Singh Jhundan by a margin of 11,879 votes.

96.5% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Surjit Singh Dhiman grabbed a total of 50,994 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Iqbal Singh Jhundan got 39,115 votes. Lok Insaaf Party's candidate Prof. Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra bagged 36,063 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 39.0%, 29.9% and 27.6% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Iqbal Singh Jhundan beat Indian National Congress's Surjit Singh Dhiman by 4,426 votes.
