Amritsar North comes under the Amritsar district and it is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Amritsar North voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,75,899 registered voters for Amritsar North assembly seat, out of which 91,865 were male and 84,034 were female voters. 0.6% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 13 candidates were contesting for Amritsar North assembly constituency seat. Amritsar North was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Sunil Dutti won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Anil Joshi by a margin of 14,236 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.0% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Sunil Dutti got a total of 59,212 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Anil Joshi secured 44,976 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Manish Aggarwal secured 10,966 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.6%, 38.4% and 9.4% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Anil Joshi outperformed Indian National Congress's Karamjit Singh Rintu by 16,980 votes.
