Lok Insaaf Party's Simarjeet Singh Bains grabbed a total of 53,421 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kamal Jit Singh Karwal got 36,508 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Gurmeet Singh Kular bagged 14,138 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 50.3%, 34.4% and 13.3% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Independent candidate Simarjit Singh Bains defeated Shiromani Akali Dal's Hira Singh Gabria by 28,503 votes.
