Dakha is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Ludhiana district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Dakha was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
Dakha assembly constituency had 1,79,549 electors in 2017, out of which 95,138 were male voters and 84,411 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 9 candidates in the fray from Dakha constituency. Dakha was one of 20 seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. It was a close contest with Aam Aadmi Party's Harvinder Singh Phoolka winning the election upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Manpreet Singh Ayali by a margin of just 4,169 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.9% of votes between them. Aam Aadmi Party's Harvinder Singh Phoolka got a total of 58,923 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Manpreet Singh Ayali secured 54,754 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Major Singh Bhaini grabbed the third spot with 28,571 votes. The top three parties got 40.6%, 37.7% and 19.7% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Manpreet Singh Ayali outperformed Indian National Congress's Jasbir Singh Khangura(JASSI KHANGURA) by 16,388 votes.
