Punjab Election: Dhuri Assembly Constituency 2022

Dhuri is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Sangrur district. People of Dhuri voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.

Dhuri assembly constituency had 1,58,497 electors in 2017, out of which 84,454 were male voters and 74,043 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.

What happened last time

In 2017, 6 candidates were contesting for Dhuri assembly constituency seat. Dhuri was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Dalvir Singh Goldy winning the election upstaging Aam Aadmi Party's Jasvir Singh Jassi Sekhon by a margin of just 2,811 votes.

97.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Dalvir Singh Goldy grabbed a total of 49,347 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party's Jasvir Singh Jassi Sekhon got 46,536 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Hari Singh bagged 28,611 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 38.6%, 36.4% and 22.4% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Arvind Khanna defeated Shiromani Akali Dal's Gobind Singh by 12,473 votes.
