Punjab Election: Dirba Assembly Constituency 2022

Dirba is the assembly constituency which comes under the Sangrur district. It is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Dirba was held on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Dirba assembly seat had 1,74,212 registered voters. Of the, 94,780 were male and 79,432 were female voters. 0.7% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Dirba constituency had 9 candidates for assembly seat contention. Dirba was one of 20 seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. It was a close contest with Aam Aadmi Party's Harpal Singh Cheema winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Ajaib Singh Ratolan by a margin of just 1,645 votes.

94.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Aam Aadmi Party's Harpal Singh Cheema grabbed a total of 46,434 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ajaib Singh Ratolan got 44,789 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Gulzar Singh bagged 44,777 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 32.1%, 31.0% and 31.0% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Sant Balvir Singh Ghunas defeated Indian National Congress's Ajaib Singh by 6,874 votes.
